International Museum Day: Trend of Exchanging Local Specialties Tears across World of Cultural Relics

China Sichuan on International Museum Day

CHENGDU, China, May 29 (Bernama) -- May 18 is International Museum Day. This year, a trend of “specialty swap” has swept into the world of cultural relics. Under the initiative of the Sichuan Provincial Cultural Heritage Administration, three major museums in Southwest China—Sanxingdui, Jinsha, and Luojiaba—have launched a cross-time-and-space “cultural relics delivery” event.
In southwestern China, the Sichuan Basin is a land where diverse civilizations converge. The Ba and Shu cultures complement each other, with the former being vigorous and martial and the latter refined and scholarly, blending harmoniously. The ancient Shu people were romantic and imaginative, as evidenced by their Bronze Mythical Tree and the Sun and Immortal Birds that embodied cosmic visions. The Ba people were valiant and warlike, as reflected in their bronze weapons and battle-themed engravings that recorded their tribal memories. These two cultures merged in their interactions, jointly crafting the rich and diverse chapter of the Ba-Shu region within the broader tapestry of Chinese civilization.

On this special day, the "Bronze Bird" of the Sanxingdui Museum sent the bronze cultural and creative product and a cute pottery handbag as a "local specialty" to the "Bronze Dou With a War Pattern (Land Battle and Water Battle)" at the Luojiaba Site Museum. And the Bronze Dou reciprocated with a tiger figurine that was loved by the Ba people. This "local specialty exchange" among cultural relics thus began. The Sun and Immortal Bird of the Jinsha Site Museum also responded positively and donated gold foil souvenirs to Sanxingdui, but the package failed to be delivered due to being "overweight".

The theme of International Museum Day this year is "The Future of Museums in a Rapidly Changing Community". Today, Museums are no longer just repositories of the past, but also places where cultural relics are given new life. This meaningful "specialty exchange" brought museums closer together, cultural relics "come alive," inviting the public to rediscover the warmth and wonder behind cultural heritage.

CT GROUP SHOWCASES ADVANCED TECH AT NATIONAL ASSEMBLY EXHIBITION

KUALA LUMPUR, May 20 (Bernama) -- CT Group was among a select group of private enterprises invited to participate in a special exhibition held at the National Assembly Building, Hanoi, aimed at implementing Vietnam’s Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW on private economic development.

In a statement, CT Group said unlike traditional trade fairs, this event served as a showcase for innovation and progress within the private sector.

Under the theme Resolution No. 68 – A New Driver for Vietnam’s Private Economic Development”, CT Group and its member companies highlighted pioneering technologies in advanced transportation, semiconductors, and carbon credit trading—positioning the group as a leading force in shaping Vietnam’s future innovation landscape.

The presence of General Secretary To Lam at CT Group's booth underscored the growing national focus on the private sector’s role in technological advancement and economic transformation.

At the centre of CT Group’s exhibit was an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) capable of carrying passengers.Developed by CT UAV, the aircraft features a 190 kilometres per hour (km/h) top speed, two-hour flight endurance, and 350 km range. With a full-sized prototype set to debut in October 2025, the innovation signals a transformative vision for urban mobility.

CT Semiconductor also made headlines with its semiconductor manufacturing facility in Binh Duong, currently in its second phase of development. As the first domestically owned ATP chip plant in Vietnam, it aims to produce 100 million chips annually by 2027.

Scheduled to begin operations in the fourth quarter of this year, the project dedicates over 10 per cent of its budget to research and development, targeting future technologies like artificial intelligence, 6G, and autonomous systems.

Further reinforcing its role in green transformation, CT Group’s CCTPA initiative is building a full-service ASEAN Carbon Credit Trading Platform (CCTPA). The ecosystem includes UAV-based emission monitoring (CarbonFly), automation tools like Sustain.Life for emissions reporting, and environmental, social and governance (ESG) consulting—supporting Vietnamese businesses in accessing global carbon markets and meeting sustainability benchmarks.

CT Group’s strategic focus on nine core Industry 4.0 technologies reflects a broader transformation from a diversified business group into a future-ready innovation hub. By concentrating on high-impact sectors such as transportation, semiconductors, and carbon trading, the group is actively contributing to the goals of Resolution No. 68—enhancing productivity, innovation, and integration into the global economy.

With over three decades of development, CT Group is redefining the role of private enterprise in Vietnam’s economic structure—moving from growth to leadership through technology mastery and sustainable development.

MALAYSIA AUTOSHOW 2025 GENERATES OVER RM 1.72 BILLION POTENTIAL SALES, DRAWS 294,062 VISITORS

The handover of ASEAN Records to MARii CEO, Azrul Reza Aziz

SERDANG, May 19 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (MAS 2025) concluded its most successful edition yet attracting a record-breaking 294,062 visitors with RM1.72 billion in potential sales generated from 3,194 vehicle bookings and 1,512 prospective trade-ins, along with an impressive 18,824 sales leads. Organized by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics, and IoT Institute (MARii) with support from the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), MAS 2025 underscored Malaysia’s growing leadership in next-generation mobility as the nation assumes the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025.

Held from May 9 to May 15 at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), MAS 2025 featured over 200 exhibitors and more than 500 vehicles across 50,000 square metres. With the theme “Shifting the Future,” this year’s show not only broke attendance records but also deepened public understanding of the rapidly evolving mobility ecosystem.

MAS 2025 drew a record 294,062 visitors, a 31% increase compared to 2024, surpassing all previous attendance records on its final day. The surge in turnout was largely driven by the extension of the event by two additional days.

The event featured 48 new vehicle launches and previews, along with 10,916 test drives on the outdoor track. Electrified vehicles (EVs, PHEVs, and HEVs) made up 51% of all models displayed, highlighting the shift to greener mobility. In a further stride towards next-generation mobility, MAS 2025 also saw the official launch of the Voluntary NxGV Labelling Scheme, aimed at certifying vehicles that meet Malaysia’s high standards for sustainability, safety, and innovation.

MAS 2025 marked a major regional milestone with the ASEAN Unity Drive 2025, a groundbreaking 10,432-kilometre electric vehicle (EV) convoy across nine ASEAN nations, officially recognised by the ASEAN Records. Showcasing Proton’s e.MAS 7 and X Series models, the drive championed the harmonisation of EV standards and cross-border interoperability. More importantly, it delivered compelling proof that seamless, long-distance EV travel across member countries is not only possible, but already within reach, where charging infrastructure is in place, signalling ASEAN’s growing readiness for a unified green mobility future.

Reaffirming its unique role as a government-led, consumer-centric event, MAS 2025 focused on building public awareness around sustainability, safety, and future transport technologies. Special theme days, Education Day, Women’s Day, and Green Day, deliver hands-on learning to thousands of families, students, and professionals.

Adding to the future-forward appeal of the show were Urban Air Mobility demonstrations, which hinted at Malaysia’s vision of a mobility landscape that includes electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) transport options. Meanwhile, ADaPTIV, developed through a strategic partnership between MARii and PETRONAS, brings real-time predictive intelligence to vehicles, improving performance and reliability. Showcasing its prototype, ADaPTIV offers commercial and fleet operators to reduce downtime, lower costs, and boost reliability to stay competitive.

At the closing ceremony, Datuk Dr. Aminar Rashid, Chairman of MARii, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, including leading partners such as Perodua, Proton, Chery, Modenas, Honda, and ORS Technologies, whose strong collaboration powered the event’s success.

MARii CEO, Azrul Reza Aziz, remarked, “MAS 2025 was about more than cars; it was about building bridges between innovation, public engagement, and industry transformation. As we continue to push for EV leadership and next-generation vehicle production, we remain focused on empowering every link in the mobility value chain.”

YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, highlighted the show’s alignment with Malaysia’s strategic goals.

“As Southeast Asia’s second-largest automotive market and the Chair of ASEAN this year, Malaysia is in a strategic position to lead the regional push towards green and next-generation vehicle technologies. This is very much in line with Malaysia’s focus on the development of guidelines to support ASEAN’s EV roadmap as one of our deliverables in our ASEAN Chairmanship year. The success of Malaysia Autoshow 2025 is a huge step towards achieving that objective, and towards strengthening the region’s next-gen mobility supply chain. While the Autoshow has become a platform to drive investment, collaboration, and innovation across ASEAN’s value chain, MITI is also committed to ensuring that our SMEs and workforce are future-ready for the opportunities afforded by a more resilient regional e-mobility industry. ”

The Malaysia Autoshow will return in 2027, potentially in a new setting to offer an even better experience for visitors and industry players. The event will continue to evolve as the premier regional platform for mobility, innovation, and clean transport technologies.

Traveloka Unveils Top 3 Favorite Destinations Among APAC Travelers During the EPIC Sale

KUALA LUMPUR, May 19 (Bernama) -- Travel demand is on the rise across Asia-Pacific, with more travelers eager to explore new destinations and seek meaningful experiences. According to Traveloka, Southeast Asia’s leading all-in-one travel platform, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam emerged as the top three most-searched destinations by millions of APAC travelers during the EPIC Sale 2025, which ran from April 11 to May 5 and offered discounts of up to 60% on flights, accommodations, and experiences.

Launched simultaneously across seven key APAC markets, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, and Australia, the EPIC Sale not only delivered unbeatable deals but also provided insights into shifting travel preferences. Beyond the numbers, the campaign reflects a larger trend: travelers are looking to make the most of long weekends and school holidays, with a rising interest in destinations that offer cultural discovery, nature escapes, and family-friendly experiences.

Traveloka’s EPIC Sale Insights: Top Destination Picks Unveiled

In addition to Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, Traveloka EPIC Sale recorded that international destinations like Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore remained popular choices for APAC travelers. Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Penang, Kuching and Langkawi continued to attract strong interest from Malaysian travelers as the top domestic destinations. This reflects a strong enthusiasm for both global adventures and local explorations. Highest searches for international destinations are Japan, South Korea, Australia, Taiwan, Vietnam and China.

Leisure travel and staycations continue to rise, indicating a growing preference for nearby travel with a more flexible itinerary. Based on accommodation searches, Traveloka observed high interest among Malaysian travelers in destinations such as Melaka, Cameron Highlands, Johor Bahru, Penang, Langkawi and Kuala Lumpur, with Kuantan seeing an increase as well. These locations were favored for short getaways, typically 3 days 2 nights stays to relax, enjoy local cuisine, and explore family-friendly experiences. This aligns with a broader shift toward more conscious travel, where convenience and affordability play a greater role.

While flights remain a top choice for long-distance travel, accommodation preferences are becoming more diverse. During the EPIC Sale, the top five accommodation types booked by Malaysian travelers were hotels, resorts, apartments, villas, and guesthouses. This mix indicates a rising preference for flexible lodging that can suit various travel styles, from solo traveler, couples, families and groups.

More Than Just a Trip, Travelers Making Every Journey Count

Baidi Li, Vice President of Commercial, Travel Activities at Traveloka, said, “Today’s travelers are increasingly focused on value—measured not just in price, but in relevance, flexibility, and the quality of experience. Through initiatives like EPIC Sale, we help partners respond to these evolving expectations by connecting them with the right customers through timely and personalized offerings. This campaign not only drove strong engagement across key markets, but also strengthened our role as a trusted partner in helping brands grow their visibility and reach through data-driven, customer-centric solutions.”

During the EPIC Sale, Traveloka also reported a clear shift in traveler behavior: users were no longer just booking trips, they were curating experiences. In Malaysia, this was reflected in the surge of interest for activities such as Genting Skyworlds, Discovery Park at Gamuda Cove, Wonderpark Melaka, KLCC Aquaria, and Berjaya Square Theme Park. In addition, cruise travel gained notable traction, with more users exploring unique seafaring getaways that combine leisure, exploration, and cultural enrichment.

From cultural performances to family-friendly attractions and all-inclusive cruise experiences, travelers are increasingly seeking out journeys that offer deeper meaning and lasting memories.

Chad Grospe, Vice President & Managing Director – APAC, Royal Caribbean International, said, “Today’s travelers are placing greater value on meaningful vacation experiences and seeking out journeys that create lasting memories. That’s why they turn to trusted platforms like Traveloka - partners who offer quality, curated travel experiences with seamless convenience. Our collaboration with Traveloka has allowed us to reach more travelers across the region, inspiring them to explore Royal Caribbean’s unique vacations both close to home and around the world. We’re proud to be part of their travel stories, helping to make every trip more exciting, meaningful, and unforgettable.

To make the most of upcoming holidays, Traveloka encourages travelers to stay smart and save more by keeping an eye out for ongoing promotions, which offer significant discounts on flights, hotels, and attractions. Whether exploring nearby cities, discovering hidden gems within the country, or traveling to international destinations, these deals provide the opportunity to create unforgettable experiences every step of the way.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 8 (Bernama) -- Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Berhad (EXIM Bank) today formalised the exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Marrybrown Sdn. Bhd. during the Franchise International Malaysia (FIM) 2025 event at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

Graced by the presence of YB Datuk Ewon Benedick, Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (KUSKOP), the event marks a significant milestone in the strategic collaboration between EXIM Bank and Marrybrown, the nation’s most successful homegrown halal quick-service restaurant (QSR) brand.

Marrybrown, born in Johor Bahru, has risen from humble beginnings to become one of the world’s largest halal fast-food chains, with over 500 outlets across Malaysia and abroad. More than just a restaurant, it stands as a proud emblem of Malaysian culinary heritage, blending local and Western flavors in a franchise model that transcends borders. With bold vision, relentless ambition, and unstoppable innovation, Marrybrown has transformed into a global powerhouse, proving that a homegrown dream, fueled by passion and resilience, can conquer the world.

EXIM Bank is a key enabler of Marrybrown’s expansion into Australia, providing essential foreign currency financing to support its entry into the market. EXIM Bank’s financing has enabled the successful launch of five new Marrybrown outlets in Melbourne, Australia, with the potential to support up to 10 outlets, solidifying its presence in the region. EXIM Bank’s support strengthens Malaysia’s reputation as a hub for thriving international franchises and supports the broader success of Malaysian brands internationally.

Nurbayu Kasim Chang, President/Chief Executive Officer of EXIM Bank Malaysia, said, “This Memorandum of Understanding with Marrybrown represents EXIM Bank’s commitment to support the expansion of our homegrown Malaysian brand in the international market. We're proud to partner with EXIM Bank in flying the Malaysian flag high across global markets.”

The food and beverage (F&B) sector is growing in importance and rapidly gaining significance as a key focus area. In response, EXIM Bank has significantly ramped up its support, with export financing for the sector skyrocketing by over 800% from 2023 to 2024. This surge is part of the bank’s RM 3.1 billion value in credit takaful, and business financing for 2024, driving industry expansion and strengthening Malaysia’s footprint in global markets.

This aligns with the objectives of this MoU, which reflects a shared vision for advancing Malaysia’s franchise industry, a sector poised to reach RM46 billion in value by 2025.
