HERE TO ACCELERATE IN-CAR NAVIGATION FOR VINFAST SMART ELECTRIC CARS
According to a statement, VinFast will also be integrating HERE’s software development kit (SDK) into its dedicated smartphone mobile application to deliver a seamless and smart driving experience.
“We’re proud that they have chosen our services for their first smart electric vehicle line-up. End-users can expect to be greeted with a unique IVI system that can also be connected to their mobile phones, providing a truly connected driving experience,” said Director and Head of Business for Southeast Asia and India at HERE Technologies, Abhijit Sengupta.
HERE Navigation will offer VinFast’s Electric Vehicles (EVs) drivers a peace of mind by providing multi-stop route planning based on the charge level of the car, as well as automatic addition of charging stops should drivers decide to make a re-route, all powered by the HERE EV Charge Points Point of Interest (POIs) and application programming interface (API).
With daily updates to the EV Charge Points POIs, global coverage and up-to-date availability information of EV Charge Points, drivers will be reassured to always stay charged and drive efficiently with routes planned for the EV’s maximised range.
HERE Navigation further enables VinFast to take advantage of the navigation as a service model provided by HERE to achieve a simplified infotainment supply chain and development process.
This enables the Vietnamese automaker to update and upgrade its navigation offerings with new features and services throughout the vehicle's life cycle.
VinFast EV drivers will enjoy a rich and embedded experience that includes online and offline search and routing, traffic information, active lane assistance, and turn-by-turn voice guidance that allows drivers to stay focused while driving.
The VF e34 electric cars are now available in Vietnam. A handover ceremony for the first batch of the cars to its customers was held in December 2021, at VinFast’s manufacturing complex, located in Hai Phong, Vietnam.

HERE Technologies-Yojee collaboration reveals global supply chain value
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 5 -- HERE Technologies, the leading location data and technology platform, and Yojee Limited, a cloud-based software as a service (SaaS) logistics platform that facilitates the flow of freight movements into a single ecosystem, have teamed up to create a unique operations intelligence solution to transform warehouse operations and management for global companies.
The growth of supply chains and e-commerce trends have resulted in the need for more warehouses worldwide, with experts predicting the number of warehouses worldwide will grow by 20 per cent between 2018 and 2025 to reach about 180,000, more than half of which will be in China, the United States, Japan, India, and Germany.
At the same time, warehousing costs are rising, and companies are spending approximately €300 billion (US$346 billion) a year on warehousing, with operational costs accounting for 85 per cent of that expenditure. (US$1 = RM4.192)
Combining the expertise of Yojee’s logistics software with HERE’s location intelligence, this joint initiative uncovers and generates crucial data from the warehouse floor, enabling businesses to make better informed decisions to streamline operations and utilise the maximum capacity of the facility.
In a statement, HERE Asia Pacific Senior Vice President and General Manager, Jason Jameson said: “The Asia Pacific logistics sector is showing no signs of slowing down due to digital transformation and an exponential growth in the supply chain and e-commerce industries.
“Yet, the cost for expansion continues to be one of the top barriers for Asia Pacific’s logistics sector as they enter expansion mode.
“Through this exciting partnership with Yojee, we look forward to providing businesses with substantial opportunities to unlock major improvements and capture value in global warehousing.”
Yojee Managing Director, Ed Clarke said: “We are digitalising warehouses where data can be consumed and analysed via a single smart dashboard remotely anytime. I’m confident that together with HERE, this brings more than just return on investment for the global logistics industry in the long term.”

Hong Kong New Year Countdown Celebrations spark arts spectacular across Victoria Harbour
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 6 -- Hong Kong’s iconic Victoria Harbour lit up exceptionally bright as the city rang in 2022, taking its thriving art scene right to the global centre-stage.
At 11:59pm on Dec 31, last year, the 65.8-metre-high LED facade of M+, Asia’s first global museum of contemporary visual culture in the West Kowloon Cultural District, was transformed into a countdown clock, which travelled across the rich cityscape of Hong Kong.
Once the clock struck midnight, a special edition of the multimedia show, A Symphony of Lights cast a dazzling array of visual effects across Hong Kong’s famous skyline complemented by rooftop pyrotechnics and lighting effects launched at various elevations.
This is along with New Year’s greetings in 15 different languages on the M+ Facade, sending sincere blessings to the rest of the world, according to a statement.
The dazzling light art extravaganza across the harbour was synchronised with energetic, jubilant music performed by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the city’s flagship orchestra, in an outdoor concert in the West Kowloon Cultural District.

CONAGEN SUCCESSFULLY DEVELOPS ANTIOXIDANT KAEMPFEROL BY PRECISION FERMENTATION
Recognized as one of nature’s most potent antioxidants, kaempferol is a flavonoid with health-promoting properties found in tea, fruits, and vegetables, especially rich in green leafy vegetables such as spinach and kale.
Rising consumer awareness towards chronic diseases such as cancer and diabetes drives the kaempferol market demand. The global kaempferol market may exceed $6.5 billion by 2025, according to a recent research report by Global Market Insights, Inc.
“We’re bringing to market a pure and natural kaempferol at affordable prices that were not possible or available until now,” said Casey Lippmeier, Ph.D. vice president of innovation at Conagen. “Conagen’s scalable, precision fermentation for producing flavonoids like kaempferol is more efficient and sustainable than what can be achieved with the chemically-synthesized or botanically-sourced molecule."
Flavonoids are polyphenolic compounds commonly found in plants and are a significant part of the human diet. They are biosynthesized by plants and fungi as secondary metabolites and comprise a diverse group of phytonutrients.
Plants protect themselves and their fruits against biological intruders such as fungi and bacteria by using phenolic phytochemicals, including flavonoids. Accordingly, kaempferol provides powerful anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, and immune system benefits to humans.
Dietary kaempferol in multiple studies has demonstrated a wide range of promising beneficial activities, primarily as an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, for reducing the risk of chronic diseases, especially cancer.
Prolonged oxidative stress leads to premature aging and can trigger many degenerative diseases and cancer. Kaempferol’s powerful antioxidant property can help the body’s defense against free radicals that promote cancer development.
Conagen derived kaempferol from its molecular platform for flavonoid antioxidants, including the previously announced molecules: DHQ, also known as Taxifolin, p-coumaric acid, hydroxytyrosol, and rosmarinic acid. The development of natural kaempferol is good news for Conagen’s commercialization partner, Blue California, as kaempferol will expand its offerings of specialty ingredient solutions.
"This launch further demonstrates our talent for delivering innovative compounds which are ideal for dietary supplements and ‘clean-label’ ingredients for functional foods, beverages, and cosmetics," said Lippmeier. “Our vision for promoting health and wellness is to continuously leverage our precision fermentation capabilities for high-quality phenolic and flavonoid phytonutrients, thus confirming our position as a leader in the development of strains and processes for making clean-label ingredients and nutraceuticals."
Blue California has a long-standing partnership with biotechnology innovator Conagen. Conagen focuses on developing sustainable, nature-based ingredients that improve existing options in the market or represent completely novel ingredient solutions.
