KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 (Bernama) – In conjunction with World
Cleanup Day on Sept 15, Tesco Malaysia is collaborating with RCOMM Lestari
to host community engagements at four locations concurrently as a commitment
towards creating a cleaner environment.
RCOMM
Lestari is a non-profit organisation officially appointed by Let’s Do It
World Foundation, the initiator of World Cleanup Day, to lead and
implement this environmental movement in Malaysia.
Tesco Malaysia
chief executive officer, Paul Ritchie said: “We look forward to be part of this
important initiative because we know that every small effort made to clean the
environment will bring great benefits to the community we serve.
“I’m pleased
that through this global movement, our colleagues and the community including
students from our adopted schools will come together to make a great impact on
the environment.”
During the
one-day, five-hour event, local communities as well as students from
schools located near four Tesco stores, namely Tesco Sungai Petani
South, Kedah; Tesco Tanjung Pinang, Penang; Tesco Manjung, Perak and
Tesco Kota Bharu, Kelantan will do clean-up activities together.
Apart from
gathering the waste, the communities will also be briefed on waste management
like waste separation, identifying recyclable items and ideal ways to dispose
of waste, by a local RCOMM representative at the respective
locations.
