Strengthens Colliers’ Asset Management and Advisory Operations in Europe
 
TORONTO and PARIS, Oct 4 (Bernama-GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Colliers International Group Inc. (NASDAQ:CIGI) (TSX:CIG) announced today the acquisition of ICADE Asset Management and ICADE Conseil (“ICADE”), a leading asset management and investor advisory services platform in France with more than €2 billion of assets under management. The acquisition will enhance Colliers’ existing asset management business and advisory solutions business for real estate investors and developers in Europe. Asset management fees generated in 2015 were approximately €10 million. The newly acquired entities will be re-branded as Colliers International – Investment & Asset Management and current Managing Director, Romain Frémont will become Managing Director of Colliers International Investment & Asset Management France. Malaysian furniture makers meet sales target amid sluggish economy

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 (Bernama) -- Malaysian furniture manufacturers have managed to meet the sales target that was set amidst a sluggish global economy, says the Malaysian Timber Council (MTC).

MTC, which maintains an annual presence at the China International Furniture Expo or Furniture China, set a sales target of RM40 million for the 18 Malaysian furniture manufacturers who exhibited at what is deemed as the third largest furniture fair in the world.

GMCI Signs MoUs And MoAs With 3 Malaysian, 2 Chinese Firms

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 (Bernama) -- GMCI Corporation, an investment holding group incorporated in the United States with 10-15 per cent local shareholders, will be investing in and forming project partnerships with three Malaysian and two Chinese companies.

GMCI said it will be signing memorandums of agreement to partially acquire YCL Precision Engineering Sdn Bhd, to joint-venture with Era Estetika Sdn Bhd, and to invest in a Heng Yue Group hotel project in Dongguan, China.

"The corporation will also sign memorandums of understanding with HLC Holding Bhd and Aladdin Information Technology Co Ltd," it said in a statement Tuesday.

In Chief Executive Officer Calvin Chin said the decision to invest in Malaysia was due to the country's strong fundamentals and strategic location regionally.

"We support our portfolio for business expansion with our strong network and expertise in the region.

"I'm also pleased to announce the opening of our first South East Asia office in Kuala Lumpur and to introduce a dedicated local management team who will look into the performance of each entity," he said.

The potential partnership with HLC Holding is to develop a 40-storey nature-themed serviced apartment block in the foothills of Genting Highlands, while with Heng Yue Group, GMCI will invest in a themed hotel near Huayang Lake.

GMCI, through subsidiary company Biosecret Beauty Wellness, will also form a joint venture with Era Estetika to develop a medical spa boutique.

85 PERCENT PLKK GRADUATES GET JOB OPPORTUNITIES

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- Eighty-five percent or 9,879 of 11,622
graduates of the Skills and Career Training Programme (PLKK) implemented by
Felcra Training and Consultancy (FTC) have managed to get jobs and become
entrepreneurs.
    Felcra's chief executive officer, Zulkarnain Md Eusope said the programme
implemented since the last 10 years has managed to place PLKK graduates in the
automotive industry, tailoring, gas and oil industry with lucrative incomes.
    "Although their qualifications (graduates) are only at the Sijil Pelajaran
Malaysia (SPM) level and not a degree but there are some who are earning a
monthly income of almost RM8,000," he told reporters at the 2016 PLKK FTC
graduation ceremony today.
    A total of 248 graduates received their certificates at the ceremony.
    Zulkarnain said PLKK is implemented within six months, that is three-months
classes and three-months industrial training at private companies that have been
identified.    
    He said, this year the government allocated RM9.4 million to FTC to finance
the PLKK programme.
