KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 9 (Bernama) -- Park Place Technologies, a leading global data centre and networking optimisation firm, has acquired the third-party maintenance (TPM) and professional services assets of CentricsIT, an information technology (IT) services provider based in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.
This is Park Place’s fourth acquisition in 2022.
Park Place’s professional services offering will benefit from the acquisition with greater capabilities among others in Remote Hands, and deployment services, including cabling, WiFi surveys, data centre instals and refreshes, and network installations, it said in a statement.
Park Place president and chief executive officer Chris Adams said in addition to investing in professional services, the company continued to focus on providing exceptional customer service and support.
“When acquiring businesses, we always search for companies that are intensely focused on customer service and have a similar culture and value set. CentricsIT delivers that and more,” he said.
Park Place's clients will benefit from a state-of-the-art professional services portal developed by CentricsIT that provides real-time project status, reporting, and collaboration tools.
Meanwhile, CentricsIT customers will gain access to Park Place’s unique portfolio of products and services, including automated monitoring and managed services. As the company transitions its professional services and TPM divisions to Park Place, it will retain its server, storage and networking resale division.

Calgon Carbon’s study highlights removal, destruction of PFAS
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 (Bernama) -- A new study by Calgon Carbon Corporation (Calgon Carbon) has provided a definitive response to a persistent question about the fate of Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) during reactivation of activated carbon.
“The single-biggest conclusion from the study is that PFAS compounds are effectively removed from spent carbon through the reactivation process, as well as showing greater than 99.99 per cent destruction of PFAS through our furnace and abatement system,” said Senior Applications Engineer at Calgon Carbon, Rebecca DiStefano.
Reactivation is a high-temperature thermal process that is commonly used by municipalities and industrial users to recycle their used activated carbon and destroy contaminants it has removed.
According to a statement, the study’s findings come at a time of growing concern and increased focus about the impact of PFAS, often referred to as “forever chemicals” because of their inability to break down over time in the environment.
Calgon Carbon’s FILTRASORB® granular activated carbon (GAC), sourced from bituminous coal, has demonstrated superior PFAS-removal capabilities compared to other carbons for two decades.
GAC is the most widely used and well-established treatment technology for the removal of PFAS contaminants from drinking water and wastewater.
For its study, Calgon Carbon enlisted the services of an independent, third-party vendor to test air samples for 36 PFAS compounds.
Another third-party vendor analysed well water and treated motive water samples for PFAS, as well as analysing samples of spent carbon, reactivated carbon, abatement dust, and bicarbonate raw material for extraction and targeted PFAS.
