Kurnia Insurans launches CSR road safety programme for primary schools

KUALA LUMPUR, May 2 (Bernama) -- Kurnia Insurans (Kurnia), a leading brand in general insurance has launched a series of coordinated CSR Road Safety Programmes, ´Program Adiwira Topi Keledar´ in Kuala Lumpur, Kota Bharu and Johor Bahru.

"Our partners have indicated positive interest to participate in this programme. Therefore, we will be coordinating a joint effort, together with other corporate companies to reach out to more schools and even more students, " said AmGeneral Insurance Berhad Chief Executive Officer, Derek Roberts.

"Ultimately, we would like to provide a programme where Malaysians would be able to contribute in making this country a safer place on the road for Malaysians. "

The programme carrying the theme, ´Hero yang Selamat adalah Hero yang Hebat!´ was kick-started with a helmet colouring contest where students from the participating schools were given the opportunity to express their creativity in designing their own helmets.

The contest has received a remarkable participation of over 20,000 students from all 30 schools, according to a statement.

The 30 winning designs will be adapted to produce special edition helmets distributed to the deserving pillion riders of these schools targeted to be out on the road by July during the road safety roadshow.

Piloting the programme to provide child pillion riders with child-size helmet, Kurnia aims to catalyse the behavioural change needed to promote positive road safety habit to children from a young age.

AmGeneral Insurance Berhad was founded on a combined business of AmG Insurance Berhad and Kurnia Insurans (Malaysia) Berhad, with the acquisition of KIMB by AmBank Group and IAG International Pty Ltd in September 2012.
