KUALA LUMPUR, March 6 (Bernama) -- Taiwan´s Agriculture Minister, Lin Tsung-hsien recently visited Taiwanese-operated companies and retailers in Kuala Lumpur that sell agricultural products from Taiwan.
The visit on March 3 aimed to expand Taiwan´s share of the halal market and to promote Taiwan-produced fertiliser, seeds and agricultural machines in Malaysia.
"Transfer of technology in agriculture from the institutes of research and development run by the Council of Agriculture to local companies in Malaysia could further help agricultural development in both Taiwan and Malaysia, " said Lin during his second leg of the two-day trip to Malaysia.
He visited several local companies such as All Cosmos Bio-Tech Holding Corp, a Malaysia-based fertiliser manufacturer and DaChan Great Wall Group´s fertiliser manufacturer in Malaysia.
DaChan Great Wall Group is a Taiwanese agriculture and food conglomerate.
Minister Lin also attended a discussion with Taiwanese business executives to understand their needs and to seek further cooperation with Malaysian businesses.
He said under the principle of mutual benefit, Taiwan hoped, in collaboration with new southbound countries, to promote regional development of agriculture by increasing bilateral cooperation in information, technology and talents to secure sustainable agriculture and to increase farmers' income in countries in the region.
