KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 -- A total of 165 young students comprising boys and girls who are Rugby enthusiasts and officials from Rugby associations of ASEAN countries and Timor-Leste will visit Japan from Sept 13 to 21.
The visit is part of Japan’s Friendship Ties Program ‘JENESYS 2019’ promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to a statement.
The ASEAN countries are Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam.
The group will visit Shizuoka prefecture and interact with high school and university students of Shizuoka thorough Rugby.
The programme provides lectures on the theme (Relationship between Japan and ASEAN through Tag Rugby, Rugby World Cup 2019, and Activities on Rugby in Shizuoka).
The group will visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sept 17, and watch the opening game of the Rugby World Cup 2019 on Sept 20.
Through this programme, it is hoped relations between Japan and ASEAN countries and Timor-Leste are strengthened.
