Lung Ambition Alliance launches initiatives to address lung cancer survival

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 -- The Lung Ambition Alliance launched several new initiatives to support its goal of doubling five-year survival by 2025, at the IASLC World Conference on Lung Cancer recently.

The founding partners of the Alliance include the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), Guardant Health, Global Lung Cancer Coalition (GLCC) and AstraZeneca, according to a statement.

“The Alliance’s new initiatives, namely Initiatives in Lung Cancer Care, illustrate our shared goal to engage with the global community and encourage ambitious in-country solutions that can potentially transform patient care and improve survival rates in lung cancer,” said IASLC president, Giorgio Scagliotti.

The programme is an open call inviting registered patient organisations with focus on lung cancer worldwide to submit proposals for projects that can potentially transform patient care and improve survival within their home countries.

The Lung Ambition Alliance will officially accept grant applications in November, evaluating and selecting submissions that have met the criteria for funding.

It also announced the official launch of an international survey, conducted by IPSOS MORI, which will invite general practitioners, lung cancer specialists and the public from seven countries and three continents to share their perceptions on lung cancer.

The Lung Ambition Alliance is a flagship partnership of diverse organisations united in the quest to eliminate lung cancer. More information at www.lungambitionalliance.org.
