UMW AIMS TO BE EXCAVATOR MARKET LEADER WITH NEW MODEL LAUNCH

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14 (Bernama) -- UMW Komatsu Heavy Equipment Sdn Bhd (UMW Komatsu),  a joint-venture company set up recently between UMW Corporation Sdn Bhd and Japanese multinational Komatsu Ltd, has launched a hydraulic excavator model that consumes less fuel than its predecessor.

In a statement today, UMW Corporation said the new PC210-10M0 was designed to deliver best-in-class reliability and performance with less fuel consumption, increased productivity and low maintenance cost compared with the previous PC200-8M0 model.

UMW's equipment division president, Megat Shahrul Azmir, said the launch of the new model supported the robust demand for 20-tonne excavators suitable for the construction, infrastructure, plantation, logging and industrial sectors.

"With an extensive network of sales and after-sales across the country, we aim to be the market leader in Malaysia’s 20-tonne excavator segment. The previous Komatsu PC200-8MO class excavators have always led the global market and set high standards," he said.

The company said the new model promises up to a substantial 20 per cent reduction in fuel consumption, with a wider range of bucket selection which would help increase productivity by up to 40 per cent.

UMW Komatsu is also offering an industry-first five-year or 10,000 hours extended powertrain standard warranty and a two-year or 4,000 hours free service package, subject to terms and conditions.

The company also offers rental programmes to customers to support more businesses in the upcoming construction and infrastructure projects.

UMW Komatsu was established late last year to further strengthen and expand market penetration of Komatsu products in Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Myanmar and Papua New Guinea.
