QUANTEXA WINS GOOGLE CLOUD PARTNER AWARD FOR LINE OF BUSINESS PROCESSES

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 (Bernama) -- Quantexa, a Decision Intelligence (DI) solutions leader for the public and private sectors, has won the 2023 Google Cloud’s Industry Solution Technology Partner of the Year award for Line of Business Processes.

According to Quantexa in a statement, the award comes after its Decision Intelligence Platform and solutions were made available on Google Cloud Marketplace in April this year.

Quantexa Chief Product Officer, Dan Higgins said this partnership is enabling information technology and infrastructure teams to be more agile and support line-of-business leaders working in an ever-evolving risk landscape.

“The recognition by Google Cloud further highlights our achievements in enabling organisations to leverage Decision Intelligence to master customer and risk management,” he said.

Meanwhile, Google Cloud Corporate Vice President, Global Ecosystem and Channels, Kevin Ichhpurani said: “We are delighted to recognise Quantexa as a 2023 Google Cloud Partner Award winner and look forward to a continued strong partnership in support of our mutual customers.”

Quantexa is recognised for the strength of its line of business solutions, in which its Line of Business Processes removes traditional manual data capture by connecting internal and external data and creating an accurate single view of customers.

Key capabilities included in Quantexa’s artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled KYC solution are onboarding, remediation, enhanced due diligence (EDD) and perpetual KYC (pKYC).

By deploying the solution, Google Cloud customers can focus their risk management efforts and facilitate trust with customers, leading to increased revenue generation.

Making the Quantexa Decision Intelligence Platform available via Google Cloud has given organisations in banking, insurance, telecommunications, and government agencies the ability to connect their data across siloed systems.

BASINGSTOKE, England, Aug 29 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) -- A new study from Juniper Research, the foremost experts in mobile roaming markets, has found losses from global roaming fraud are anticipated to exceed $8 billion by 2028; driven by the increase in bilateral roaming agreements for data-intensive use cases over 5G networks. In turn, it predicts fraudulent data traffic will account for 80% of global operator roaming-based losses by 2024.

This press release features multimedia. View the full release here: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20230828769909/en/

As 2G and 3G networks are sunsetting, operators are accelerating the transition to 5G and VoLTE roaming services to leverage the high levels of virtualisation and lower operational costs. However, the highly virtualised nature of 5G networks is creating more opportunities for fraudsters to deploy their attacks; leaving operator networks open to emerging fraud tactics over 5G networks.

The new report: Global Roaming Fraud Market 2023-2028, part of Juniper Research’s Roaming Market Intelligence Centre, offers the most reliable source of data for the market. Download a free sample.

5G Roaming Agreements Necessitate Novel Fraud Mitigation

As bilateral 5G roaming agreements proliferate, the research predicts operators will deploy more sophisticated fraud mitigation tools. The greater amount of data that 5G roaming connections generate will require the development of solutions that can detect fraudulent users and traffic over new 5G networks as they evolve. An example is the rise in 5G subscription fraud, whereby fraudsters create new subscriptions with false information; incurring roaming charges without intending to pay. Until the subscription is cancelled, fraudsters will continue anonymously using 5G roaming data, with operators losing potential roaming revenue.

1-year Celebration: St Kitts and Nevis Highlights Key Accomplishments

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 24 (Bernama) -- The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew recounted the key achievements of the government during the St Kitts and Nevis’ Labour Party (SKNLP)’s one-year anniversary.

In a statement, Dr Drew outlined the party’s accomplishments in that period and shared his gratitude for the support the government received from local citizens as well as noted the country’s latest developments.

Among SKNLP administration’s critical achievements from August last year until now were the growth in the education sector, in which the government has significantly reduced student loan interest rates from nine per cent to five per cent at the Development Bank. Student loans received interest-free debt relief for the first time in a little over four years.

St Kitts and Nevis Ministry of Sports, under the leadership of Samal Duggins, has launched numerous initiatives such as transforming Lambert’s playing field to be used to attract more citizens to partake in sports activities on the field and restoration project in the Warner Park Cricket Stadium.

In addition, indigenous financial institutions in the country now provide zero down payment for mortgages, which makes it possible for homeowners to qualify to purchase their dream home on the twin island nation.

The first Citizenship by Investment (CBI) dividends were paid out to CBI investors in December 2022 and June this year, indicating that the St Kitts and Nevis CBI programme has shown strength in economic development.

Meanwhile, the government increased the number of different airlines to the destination with Caribbean Airlines, InterCaribbean Airlines and JetBlue Airlines to the country’s airlift as well along with the launch of “Venture Deeper” tourism brand campaign to diversify tourism initiatives.

It also improved its good governance by implementing changes to laws being passed to support and protect the country’s diverse communities which include a Domestic Violence Act to protect women, men and children who are exposed to and affected by domestic violence.

Dr Drew added that there are healthcare initiatives that pay emergency overseas medical care, providing essential healthcare to disadvantaged children.

Committed to building a stronger country and empowering its citizens, the Government of St Kitts and Nevis' vision is to evolve the country into a Sustainable Island State by focusing its governance on integrity, transparency and accountability.

Themed The Connected Risk Journey in Self-Insurance, this in-person conference aims to help professionals navigate their risk journey at critical touchpoints in the ever-shifting risk landscape.
This conference will provide a platform for stakeholders across all segments in the global captive market. Datuk Iskandar Mohd Nuli, Executive Chairman cum CEO of Labuan IBFC Inc. will deliver the welcome address while En. Nik Mohamed Din Nik Musa, Director General of Labuan Financial Services Authority (Labuan FSA) will officiate the ceremony.

As at December 2022, the Labuan captive industry recorded total gross premiums of USD570.9 million, with the market expanding at an average rate of 10.7% per annum. Located in the remaining vein of Tianmu Mountain with an area of 4.86 square kilometres, Yucun was the first village selected as the "Best Tourism Village" by the United Nations World Tourism Organization, having received 700,000 tourists in 2022.

According to the National Forestry and Grassland Administration in a statement, as the birthplace for "Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets", Yucun is famous though it is small.

Yucun founded China’s first "zero-carbon village" as the trendy building "Yucun Impression" transformed from a chemical plant was completed. Being a veritable zero-carbon building, it relies on renewable energy photovoltaic power generation system for carbon offset.

In addition, ecological priority and green development are reshaping people's production and life, in which "Yucun Global Partner Program" was launched in July 2022, inviting global talents to jointly build Yucun and broaden green development.

Broadening the transformation channel from "lucid waters and lush mountains" to "invaluable assets", Yucun collaborates with 24 administrative villages in three surrounding towns for construction of "Great Yucun".

With the right green development road, Yucun has a collective economic income of 13.05 million Chinese yuan in 2022, with a per capita net income of 64,000 Chinese yuan, and over eight million Chinese yuan of operational income. (100 Chinese yuan = RM63.86)

US STEEL REAFFIRMS INVITATION FOR CLEVELAND-CLIFFS TO JOIN STRATEGIC REVIEW

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- United States Steel Corporation (US Steel) confirmed that it has invited Cleveland-Cliffs Inc (Cleveland-Cliffs) to participate in its previously announced strategic review process.

Previously, US Steel disclosed it has commenced a formal review process, with the assistance of outside financial and legal advisors.

This is to evaluate strategic alternatives for the company after receiving multiple unsolicited proposals that ranged from the acquisition of certain production assets to consideration for the whole company.

According to a statement, US Steel had received an unsolicited cash and stock proposal from Cleveland-Cliffs to acquire all of its outstanding shares.

In a letter to Cleveland-Cliffs dated on Aug 13, US Steel said it was unable to properly evaluate the proposal because Cleveland-Cliffs refused to engage in the necessary and customary process to assess valuation and certainty unless US Steel agreed to the economic terms of the proposal in advance.

US Steel President & Chief Executive Officer, David Burritt said the company’s Board cannot determine whether Cleveland-Cliffs' unsolicited proposal properly reflected the full and fair value of the company, but has no choice to reject the unreasonable proposal.

“The Board remains committed to maximising value for stockholders, and to that end has decided to initiate a formal review process to evaluate strategic alternatives,” he added.

US Steel has hired Barclays Capital Inc and Goldman Sachs & Co LLC as its financial advisors, with Milbank LLP and Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz acting as its legal advisors.

According to Ingredion in a statement, the increase was driven by favourable price mix, partially offset by higher raw material and input costs and lower volumes.

Its reported and adjusted diluted earnings per share (adjusted EPS) for the same period, were US$2.42 and US$2.32, an increase of 14 per cent and nine per cent, respectively. (US$1=RM4.58)

In addition, the company raises its full year adjusted EPS outlook to be in the range of US$8.80-US$9.40, up from US$8.70-US$9.40.

“Once again, our teams demonstrated an ability to adapt to shifting market dynamics while continuing to drive strong profit growth. The team’s nimbleness to adjust our production to anticipated shifts in customer demand led to robust profit growth and greater cash from operations.

“Our performance this quarter further demonstrated the value of our diversified ingredients portfolio where North America’s strength in core ingredients and EMEA’s strength in specialties led to record second quarter net sales,” said Ingredion president and chief executive officer, Jim Zallie.

Zallie added that net sales growth of specialty ingredients was driven by price and customer mix, which overall, led total net sales growth for the company, reflecting ongoing demand for healthy and natural ingredients, such as solutions to enable sugar reduction.

“Our updated full-year outlook reflects our confidence to continue to deliver profitable growth this year and execute on our Driving Growth Roadmap, creating long-term value for shareholders,” he concluded.

Among financial highlights were total debt and cash, including short-term investments, at June 30, were US$2.5 billion and US$263 million, respectively, versus US$2.5 billion and US$239 million, respectively, at Dec 31, 2022.

Ingredion considers return of value to shareholders via cash dividends and share repurchases as part of its capital allocation strategy to support total shareholder return.

Ingredion expects full-year 2023 net sales to be up mid to high single digits reflecting softer volume demand, while reported and adjusted operating income are both expected to be up high double-digits.

As a result of joint efforts of China, the International University Sports Federation and delegations from various countries and regions, the Chengdu Universiade has become an international sports event with Chinese characteristics, the spirit of the times and style of youth.

During the games, cultural exchanges off the field take place every day. In the Tianfu Art Park, the "2023 Chengdu Biennial Exhibition" exhibits 476 works by 235 artists from 22 countries and regions, attracting a large number of Chinese and foreign audiences.

As civilisations are enriched by exchanges while cultures are enriched by mutual learning, the college students meet in Chengdu to view harmony and diversity from the perspective of equality, inclusiveness and fraternity.

The students also appreciate and learn from different cultures, as well as promote world peace and development with their youthful vitality.
