Graduate Management Admission Council elects Joy Jones CEO-Elect

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 9 (Bernama) -- The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), a global association of leading graduate business schools, has appointed Joy Jones chief executive officer-elect after CEO Sangeet Chowfla voiced his intention to step down earlier this year, after nearly a decade at the helm.

The GMAC board unanimously voted to elect Jones, who will become GMAC’s fourth CEO as of Oct 1, 2022, a statement said today.

Jones is currently GMAC’s chief product officer and general manager of assessments.

“With more than 100 candidates from around the world, the board conducted extensive interviews and thorough evaluations over the past months and was thrilled to find the best person to lead the organisation from within,” GMAC board chairman Jon Erickson said.

Jones joined GMAC five years ago to manage the council’s assessments and preparation portfolio, which includes the Graduate Management Admission Test.

Earlier this year, under her stewardship, GMAC introduced a series of “micro” courses known as Business Fundamentals Powered by Kaplan in statistics, accounting, and finance to help prepare business school aspirants and students of graduate programmes.

Before joining GMAC, Jones had a 13-year tenure at the Associated Press and became vice president of global products, overseeing all product portfolio and distribution platform management across the company’s multimedia content licensing, advertising, and content service businesses.

She earned her MBA at Stanford University and holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and applied sciences from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she graduated with honours.
