US-based Delta Air Lines buys 20 new Canadian Bombardier aircraft

Delta Air Lines has signed a firm purchase agreement for 20 CRJ900 aircraft.


KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 (Bernama) -- US based Delta Air Lines Inc has signed a purchase agreement with Bombardier Commercial Aircraft for 20 CRJ900 aircraft valued at US$961 million (RM3.85 billion).

Delta Air Lines is the launch operator of the new ATMOSPHÈRE cabin for CRJ Series regional jets, a statement said. Based in Canada, Bombardier has recorded firm orders for 1953 CRJ Series aircraft for now.

The new aircraft with ATMOSPHÈRE cabin will fly under the Delta Connection brand in a comfortable two-class regional jet configuration with 70 seats, expected in late 2018.

The new cabin sets new standards of passenger experience in the regional jet market segment. The new interior comprised of larger passenger living space, wheel-first roller bag capability, more spacious lavatory, increased cabin connectivity options, all integrated in a contemporary design and material choices.
