SUBANG JAYA, Selangor, Oct 11 (Bernama) -- Challenges in hiring and retaining graduates, as well as changes at the workplace brought about by digitalisation were the main focus of discussions at this year’s HRINCAMPUS Conference, held at Sunway University.
The first day of the annual conference saw top HR practitioners sharing their experiences with members from educational institutions, student leaders and Campus Recruiters on issues pertaining to recruiting, managing and retaining graduates.
Topics presented include “Managing Young Talents - 10 Most Crucial Considerations” by Maxis’s Head of Young Talent, Anisha Sasheendran and “Reinventing Recruitment with AirAsia” by AirAsia Group’s Head of Global Talent Acquisition, Ashish Ashdhir, and a forum titled “Making Degrees Relevant for the Future Workforce”, featuring Siti Norliza Mohd. Sahar, Director, Talent, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).
Workshops were also conducted by prominent leaders from the HR fraternity to give over 300 a greater insight on digitalisation of the workplace and tips on working in a multi-generational workforce environment.
‘Our aim is to leverage on the strong academia-industry collaboration platform through the HRINCAMPUS conference to harness the diverse experiences and expertise to find solutions to issues impacting the industry’, said HRINCAMPUS’ Chief Executive Officer Ben Ho.
‘As changes take place around us, we look forward to corporations designing a workplace where there is less hierarchy, more flexibility and diverse in many ways’, said Y.Brs. Dr. Mohd. Nor Azman bin Hassan, the Deputy Director General for Higher Education (Private Sector), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education Malaysia, in his opening address. ‘It is the Ministry’s hope that we can continue to work closely with industry stakeholders to create a future workforce that can support the sustainable progress of our nation’.
The second day of the conference saw the launching of the Career Development Centre Club Malaysia (CDCC) by Y.Bhg. Prof. Dr. Noor Azizi Bin Ismail, Deputy Director General of Higher Education (Public Sector), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education Malaysia and Sandy Tan, Director of Career Services & Global Rankings at Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus, and President of Career Development Centre Club Malaysia. The CDCC consists of members from Premier Digital Tech Universities and Preferred Digital Tech Polytechnic, and will share best practices among career development centres.
