This pivotal partnership was unveiled at the SIAL Interfood Jakarta event on 8 November 2023. The collaboration will pave the way for a strengthened collaborative approach towards establishing a comprehensive global ecosystem encompassing Halal audit, platform, and export facilitation. This partnership seeks to amplify the efforts in connecting Malaysia Halal manufacturers with Indonesia's rapidly growing Halal market and beyond.

The global Halal F&B industry, valued at an estimated USD2.1 trillion in 2021, is on an upward trajectory and is anticipated to surge to USD3.3 trillion by 2028. With Indonesia, home to over 230 million Muslims, as a pivotal market, the demand for authenticated Halal products and services is ever-increasing.

This initiative will serve as a robust platform to facilitate the exportation of Halal products from Indonesia to international markets. Additionally, it will provide indispensable support to Indonesian firms, assisting them to adhere to Indonesia’s Halal requirements.

A comprehensive use of DagangHalal’s B2B e-marketplace and the Halal Internal Assurance System (“HIAS”) will be made to guarantee Halal Assurance System compliance, reinforcing trust among Muslim consumers worldwide.

SUCOFINDO, with its vast network of 76 Service Points and 65 Laboratories in Indonesia, and supported by more than 142 services, include Good Manufacturing Practises (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), ISO 22000, and Indonesia’s National Standard (SNI) for Product, and also a mandate from the BPJPH, offers a robust foundation for Halal assessment and audit. In partnership with DagangHalal, which boasts over 4,300 suppliers from 85 countries and 13,000 registered buyers, the collaboration promises seamless integration of Halal certification and market exposure.

"So, SUCOFINDO and DagangHalal shall work together to facilitate global manufacturers in obtaining Indonesian Halal certification by ensuring compliance with the relevant regulations. This partnership aims to support manufacturers in penetrating the Indonesian market by leveraging DagangHalal.com's B2B e-marketplace and the credibility of a Halal certificate. This will provide assurance to Muslim consumers regarding the Halal status of products," stated Agus Suryanto, Head of Halal Unit at PT SUCOFINDO.

Sam Hwang, CEO of DagangHalal, expressed his enthusiasm: “This partnership with SUCOFINDO reinforces our commitment to establishing a global Halal Compliance Standard Ecosystem. By integrating audit, platform, and export facilitation, we are setting the stage for a holistic Halal ecosystem that meets international standards and serves the global Muslim community.”

He further emphasised that DagangHalal’s partnership with SUCOFINDO is poised to spearhead a transformative wave in the Halal F&B sector, enabling Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (“MSMEs”) and women entrepreneurs to capitalise on the escalating demand for Halal products and services.

“Our partnership with SUCOFINDO transcends merely catering to existing market needs; we are charting new territories in the Halal F&B space. We stand at the threshold of a commercial paradigm shift, and jointly, we are determined to be at its forefront,” Sam Hwang added.

Mr Nicolas Trentesaux, Director General of SIAL Network said, “At the SIAL Network, we strive to be at the forefront of the F&B industry worldwide, building food business communities. We are excited to witness the growth potential of the halal food and beverage sector. The partnership between DagangHalal and SUCOFINDO will greatly contribute to the advancement of the Halal industry in Indonesia.
